Steady is a metronome and tuner app made by Daniel O'Dea. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.
Steady does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Everything you do in the app stays on your device unless you deliberately choose to share it.
Steady uses your device's microphone for two things, both on your device only:
Steady can record short practice or performance clips. These recordings are saved locally on your device, in the app's own storage. You can play them back, rename them, and delete them.
If you tap the share button on a recording, your device's standard share sheet opens so you can send that clip to another app you choose (for example a messaging app or cloud drive). A recording never leaves your device unless you take that step yourself. Steady does not upload recordings anywhere.
Your settings, presets, custom sounds, setlists, and practice history (daily practice time, streaks, per-piece stats) are all stored locally on your device. None of it is uploaded to any server. It is removed if you uninstall the app.
Steady offers a one-time optional upgrade, "Steady Pro", purchased through Google Play Billing. Google Play handles the entire transaction, including any payment details. Steady never sees or stores your payment information. After a purchase, the app keeps only a simple local flag recording that Pro is unlocked, so it can enable the extra features on your device.
Steady can show local notifications, for example when you reach a practice goal or as a streak reminder. These are generated on your device by the app itself. There is no push server and nothing is sent over the internet to deliver them. You can turn notifications off in the app or in your system settings.
If you enable Ableton Link, Steady syncs tempo, bar and beat timing with other Link-enabled music apps on the same local network. While Link is on, the app broadcasts and receives musical timing data (things like the current tempo and beat position) with those other devices. It exchanges only this timing information, never any personal data, and only for as long as you keep Link enabled. If you never turn Link on, none of this happens.
If you choose to send feedback from within the app, the message you type is sent to the developer (via the Web3Forms form service) so the developer can read and respond. Only the text you enter is sent. You are never required to send feedback.
The "Buy me a coffee" link opens an external website in your browser. Any payment there is handled by that third-party service under its own privacy policy. Steady does not see or store payment details.
Steady contains no ads and no analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking SDKs.
Steady is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children.
